Dev App 1.3.8 (396)
Watchmaker:
We're now testing what will be the 1.3.8 release in the Dev App.
Major new features are of course matchmaking, plus some serious revamps to progression.
There are two new 2v2 maps, cut-down versions of Fight Over Firnfeld and Water Hazard.
This release will be our first on Unity 4.5.4, which fixes a number of engine issues. In particular, fullscreen now defaults to a borderless window, which lets us avoid a lot of past issues with alt+tabbing away from the game.
There are also a lot of bugfixes, including many minor art ones, and fixes to a number of rare-but-nasty respawn bugs.
Milevan Faent:
Do we have the option to switch it to full screen if we want? My laptop seems to not like this borderless mode, and deforms everything.
Watchmaker:
Sounds like you're running in an aspect ratio other than your native one? In my own testing that caused stretching in old fullscreen as well, what did you see on your machine?
Milevan Faent:
I have to run it in a different ratio, because this laptop can't run the game otherwise. It's below min-spec. In old fullscreen though, the game fills in the extra space in the menus and lobbies that normally is deformed with black spaces. In-game, the deforming is unnoticeable. Doesn't help that it has an unusual native ratio, which isn't supported by any game.
Squidslinger Gilder:
Like the windowed full screen mode, but the windows task bar doesn't vanish all the time. I had it again simply overlay over GOIO. After tabbing out a few times it is gone but this likely will be an issue for some if it gets stuck on there.
Also one thing to note, if you tab out during loading screen and the game loads in while you are tabbed out, it seems to completely take over whatever screen you are on, forcing you to tab back in. Not that I'm totally complaining, it is a brilliant way to stop afkers, but just making a note of it in case someone makes a fuss.
Lastly, no death stats along with kills for pilots? Why do pilots lose their ability to personally calculate their K/D ratio? This is the most important stat for pilots to determine their capability behind the wheel. How well you can keep a ship in the air matters a lot more than contesting or defending which I thought was done away with when the CP achievements were patched to just list capturing. Or is this coming under the Avg # armor before death stat? In fact, what is that? Heck why is there a spots cleared stat before a death stat? Clearing spots does not say anything about piloting ability or is even useful.
