Captain chat ship indicators
« on: June 11, 2014, 08:34:24 pm »
During tight maneuvers, it is easy to lose track of your fellow ships during 3v3 or 4v4. In addition to some indication of if a pilot or your own crew/party is talking, it would be nice to have a visual indicator on the ship that is talking so you know where the chatter is coming from.

Could be an overlay like the spotted ships, or graphical like shutter/signal lantern flashes. Possibly even move the captain's name out of the sidebar, and hover it over/under their ship whenever they speak.

I like the idea of the indicator being moved to the ship of origin. But I have another feature to add to that. Treat it like a damaged component on the ship, where it floats on the side of the screen that the component is relative to you, so you can easily see where it is in relation to you. This way, when your ally is saying "We could really use some help over here", the indicator is in the upper left of your screen until you look over in that direction and see it off in the distance, letting you know at a glance which way to go.
