Unlock Ships through Level or Matches Played

No piloting outside of novice matches until either

A. Reached level 4 in any class (Novice graduation)
B. Played all the tutorials (and maybe add more tutorials.)

What is lost? These are extremely easily achievable but will impart some understanding of the game.

The game would loose the ability for 4 friends to buy the game and hop right into the action as one crew. Then suck and die because no one knows what they are doing. We all have had those instances where a crew of level 1's and 2's show up at the same time maybe even sporting the same clan tag. Granted they die a lot and bring down their entire team but Muse would be foolish to say they shouldn't be allowed to fly together. Sammy's suggestion would allow them to fly together in a novice match, but if there are no novice matches available they are stuck with the big boys.

It might be better for the players in the long term to split up and learn the game from captains who know the game before committing to an all friends ship, but some people buy the game for the express purpose of being on an airship with three of their friends. The more artificial hurdles we put between the new players and their goal the less happy these new players will be.

Sammy B. T.:
There are generally plenty of novice matches but if none, then they play the tutorials. That is hardly a hurdle.

After that post I jumped on Guns, played both pilot tutorials and here I am. I learned how to move the ship, what dust clouds do to ships, and learned all the tools. I also ate lunch!

I think you shouldn't put it in such a way that you have to play loads of games just to unlock the ship you like the most.

I think the smartest choice would be using the tutorials.
Could it be possible that a player has to complete special ship tutorials to unlock the ship. This way you can show players in a friendly enviroment how the ship works, what type of playstyle it's mostly used for, and how the ship manouvres through the sky. Then youcan explain what the weakest points are of the particular ship and what the good points are on the particular ship and how the player can fully use those points into their advantage to win the game.

Unlocking ships gradually by playing games is an ok idea.
But in my opinion I tink that everyone should be able to unlock any ship at any time, and also learn things about the particular ship.

Also having a voice actor should be usefull to read the information about the ship.

I really like the idea of ship-specific tuturials. But at the very least they need to fix the current tutorials.
