3/1/14 - Aerodrome Episode Three: Hubris Reunions

Welcome to the week three program of events for Support Your Local Aerodrome!

First off apologies for last week. We will be back on US servers once again and we will be staying on them for the remainder of the event. While that is no guarantee stuff won't go wrong, we can hopefully limit the problem while the servers are under the heavy load thanks to the recent sale.

The VSS vs Gents rematch is taking place, but to make it work for the other matches, it will have to take place on Refinery instead of Scrap. VSS will also be pulling double duty this week to make up for the last week.

So without further adieu, this week on Aerodrome:

Match 1: Refinery
Teams: VSS Squadron 1 vs The Juicy Gents

Driven away by harsh winds, the Gents are forced to veer off course along with the famed VSS squadron. While the storm was intense and communication with their homelands lost, both squadrons found themselves deposited in the most heavily contested rejoin this conflict has seen. The Refinery.

With the Ryders recalled to Anglea and the Thralls mysteriously missing, VSS immediately accepts the challenge of securing the Refinery which they lost. The Gents recognize the damage this could inflict on the Anglean war effort and quickly move to intercept.

However, while this may be home turf for VSS, can they recover from the storm in time to repel the Gents and potentially turn the tide of the conflict back to Yesha’s favor?

Match 2: Anglean Raiders
Teams: The Merry Thralls vs Mercs

Suffering heavy losses in the battle over the Refinery, the Thralls have no time to mourn. As being pushed to the limit by the Angleans, they suddenly find their foe has retreated instead of delivering the death blow. Confused by this, the Thralls lick their wounds. From this they have now steeled themselves for their new goal: Annihilation of the Ryder squadron.

Fueled by what resources they managed to scrounge from the Refinery, the Merry Thralls take to the sky like a pack of rabid dogs, hungry for blood and craving the sweet taste of revenge. In the process they have intentionally cut off their communication with Yesha and their bloodlust for the Ryders has led them back to where it all began. Anglea. Meeting once again a former foe whom they know all too well.

There the Mercenary fleet awaits. A fleet which has, under duress by the Ryders, changed allegiance and now fights to defend the Anglean homeland. But with the Ryders departed, will the Mercenaries stay loyal and defend Anglea? Or will they turn tail at the sight of an enraged Tiger hungry for blood?

Match 3: Desert Scrap
Teams:  VSS Squadron 1 vs Crimson Rhino Ryders

With comms down, the VSS squadron has no means of updating command on the situation. Being the soldiers, they decide to return to their original orders and head back to reclaim the desert route.

Burning engines hard to return, VSS rushes in to find an old foe has arrived on the scene ahead of them. A tremor of fear runs through the Yeshan ranks as they see the familiar colors of the Crimson Rhino Ryders.

Not being deterred by this, VSS captains give a mighty battle cry,”FOR YESHA!!!”

The Ryders are set aback by the surprise attack from their former foes. Arriving under orders merely to discover the whereabouts of the Gents squadron, they now find themselves in a life or death fight against a stalwart Tiger.

Will the resolve of the Yeshan VSS be enough to repel the Ryders, or will the charge of the Rhino stop the Tiger dead in it's tracks?

Nitty Gritty

Time will be 1pm EST/6pm GMT Saturday.

Teams are requested to be in game and start forming up 15mins prior if not sooner. Bully Buddies and Scorekeepers will have lobbies preloaded and ready to go well in advance and passwords will be given out ahead of time too. Teams may join in and start filling their lobby at any time during the event, earlier the better. But they will be requested to hold off starting until all clear is given. The match ref/scorekeeper will handle that.

We will continue to use both the Aerodrome Steam Group and the Skype group to communicate between the teams.
