Are captains no longer able to kick crew off guns, or am I experiencing a bug?

I don't think they were ever able to do that.  Kicking people off the helm that was added a while ago, but kicking off guns is more of an assumption people have that the feature also exists.  That assumption has become pretty common I think.

You would probably see some distrustful gunners sitting in captain slots if this feature existed imo.

It definitely used to be a thing.

i think captains were never able to kick off crew.
the idea was placed up the suggestions and furious arguments were thrown but it was never implemented in the game.
