Pretty sure that it's only in the planning stage at this point, and Gilder's just asking for feedback on the idea and ruleset.
Squash:
Oh! Well I like it, it's about time we've had a 3v3CP tournament. Having said that, Gilder you might want to do a little testing on Desert Scrap. I'm a little worried that if two competitive teams square off on that map it would literally never end.
Squidslinger Gilder:
I thought about Baronies but then we'd have three factions and it may splinter the teams more. Keeping it simple with Anglea vs Yesha may work best. Ideally it would be great to have multiple factions all going at it but that will be coming in Adventure Mode I bet.
Yeah I thought about Scrap, hence the time limit section. That and I've done 2hr battles on the new Anglean. If the time limit is set then no matter what the score the match is called and the points tabulated. If no points were scored then it would go by kills which would be scavenged resources. So there would be two ways to help your faction if you couldn't cap. Matches that end in a draw would not necessarily mean they'd be a loss.
Yes I'm just wanting feedback on it. Specially from tournament organizers. Urz, Qwerty, etc. If its a feasible idea..I'd like to run with it and get a functional 3v3 CP event running. Then take it from there and say...when Muse adds more maps, move the locale to maybe Arashi vs Guild.
Another idea I had running for it was bringing 4v4 play in for the finale. Take the top ships on both sides and duke it out in 4v4. But 4v4 is always ehhh. People I'm sure would want to run Galleons and then it would be a whole new world of pain for not only the competitors but also casters.
Sammy B. T.:
3 v 3 tourney including CP. Heck yeah. However, you've asked for some critique.
I think it would probably be better to allow a clan putting in two teams to have them on the same faction, if not force them to do so. Having a clan straddle the competition could cause accusations and fears about throwing games. Also the without allowing subs across factions, subs would be next to impossible. Allowing a clan to give more than three ships to a faction could also help with smaller clans finding that third ship. In fact, that gives me what I think is a good idea.
How about when a clan signs up for event, the simply pledge ships to the faction and then once the factions are finalized in size, the squadrons can be created. 3 v 3 tourneys are simply not prepared for by individual clans as the overwhelming event type is 2 v 2. I think allowing flexibility could be a good way to overcome this.
Now, the 10 points per kill, I really can't speak for whether that is too high or too low. Perhaps we should try some testing to figure out how many kills happen during a CP match.
Now would this be an event at a dedicated weekly time/time decided on by organizers, or would it be a both teasm agreeing to meet at a certain time. I would highly suggest avoiding the latter as its already hard enough to get 16 players to agree to a time, 24 is easily much more difficult.
Squidslinger Gilder:
Exactly what I was looking for Sammy. I didn't think about that. I'm just thinking of ways to balance it for each faction so one faction isn't lopsided. Didn't think about the fears of throwing games.
Only other idea I had to make the balancing happen was to just pool everyone and then randomly dish out teams to each faction. But I wasn't nuts about that because I'm sure some wouldn't want to be forced to fly for one faction or another.
I'd like to see as much flexibility as possible so smaller teams can throw a ship in and still help contribute to the goal of winning the event.
The kill points...yeah I thought about multiple numbers and it really comes down to how grindy the match gets trying to cap points. If it was say 25-50 per kill then it could potentially equal a lot of excess points and then teams could literally just ignore points and go for kills. I also thought up maybe a point cap limit for scavenged points. Say 100 max per round from scavenged kills. I just don't know if that would solve it because it would be nice if a team that was falling behind could help make up a deficit by getting a few more kills.
Time and organizing, thats a good question. I'd personally like more of a set time, or if not one day, do more than one. I haven't cared that much for these arrange time events, but if people wanted those then so be it.
