Ship suggestion: Geirr
Sgt. Spoon:
It's an interesting concept, and I've always wanted a norse inspired ship in the game (that would be for the Anglean Republic though). Though I worry that with such of a forward power and speed you'll still be able to kick in reverse and outrun your enemies with ease. Something that would make this rather unique would be introducing uneven throttle controls for the ship. I.e. you reverse much slower than going forward, forcing you to make head on attacks instead.

maybe the ship design thread should be moved in to the feedback and suggestions section?

Hah I can feel you man, I had the exact same issue with the old ship suggestion thread. It worked great for a while but yeah... It's a bit of a difficult choice whether it should be in the suggestion or gallery section, it kinda fits in both threads. If you want it moved though just PM me.

Wouldn't that tip the balance of the ship?
Also, going to try and model something small in Maya, just for fun.

Nah it's on both sides, just didn't have room for it, but you get the general idea. The top down view shows the location, while the side view shows the repair node for it. It's kind of like a zodiac boat, those inflatable military rafts with the inflated bits around the edge, though it's not around the entirety of the ship.
@spoon
Hrm, I suppose you could, though the idea is that it is supposed to go quite quickly in either direction. You need to be able to outrun ships in as many situations as possible, considering your only weapons face forward keeping the front of the ship needs to be an effective tactic as often as possible. If you have to turn to run, that would make things significantly more difficult.
That could make it an annoying ship to fight in regards to it being able to hit and run, though that is the prerogative of the ship.
