What did you name your ship and why?

dragonmere:
On occasion I get asked why my Mobula is named fhqwhgads, or how to pronounce it.

The answer is obvious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=votBDwhTu1E

I think the mobula has a few fhqwhgads-esque qualities. It's definitely to the limit.

Shinkurex:
it's still one of the worst ships I've ever had to pronounce..... on my first day co-casting...... all of my hate :D

i love you.

most of my ships were homestar runner references, though i changed my ship names around recently

my goldfish is now called Going merry.
and my galleon is named Thousand sunny.
both are named after the ships used in the Anime One Piece.

then we have my Spire named Red Glare, in reference to the Star Spangled Banner and for the fact that has a Hwacha, 2 Artemis' and the Hades.

Dr Pantaleon:
Goldfish: Bulletpoint - Fast, pointy, painful. Therefore the name was put together from "arrow point" and "bullet." Also, it's fun because of the actually rather peaceful original meaning of "bulletpoint".

Pyramidion: Ever Onward - Because of the charging nature of the ship. Also, this name has a rather heroic ring to it which I also find very nice.

Squid: Jolly Dodger - as reference to the Jolly Roger and the maneuvrability of the little guy. She used to be called "Why not Zoidberg" though. Because Zoidberg is somewhat of a squid, I guess?

Junker: Belly of the Beast - A great name, I find! She might not be very beautiful but damn, she can pack a punch! Also, I like greeting my crew with "Welcome to the Belly of the Beast!", whenever I start a game.

Galleon: Salacious Maiden - She has some really nice big guns. And she really enjoys you playing with them - if you know what you're doing.

Spire: Double Helix - Thanks to the spiral staircase and the long and narrow shape. A reference to the Form of a DNA strand.

Mobula: Steamroll - due to its general shape. I am not really satisfied with the name. Doesn't matter though, as I am not flying it anyway at the moment.

-Karstark-:
As I am a huge huge fan of the "A song of ice and fire"  fantasy novel saga written by George R.R Martin and adapted into the hugely popular HBO television production titled "Game of Thrones" I could not think of more evocative, exotic and mysterious names than those of the free cities of Essos. So my ships are named after seven of those free cities.

Pyramidion - The Pentoshi
Goldfish - The Tyroshi
Squid - The Lorath
Spire - The Norvoshi
Mobula - The Braavosi
Junker - The Qohor
Galleon - The Volantis
