Adventure Events (with a sidegun of roleplaying)

I'm just an average joe in the community but I would love to see stuff like this come to fruition!
I don't know how much help I can be, but I'll definitely keep my eye on this, and don't be afraid to contact me if you want any help.

That's a great idea! GoIO offers a good amount of Lore to make use of, and it's a shame we haven't utilized that much ingame yet.
As it's a quite huge undertaking, I suppose you/we/these events should get started with something simple to attract attention and show that it's possible. You mentioned Faction match ups, and I guess that would be an ideal starting point. We have some information on faction ships and possible weaponry, and if we're lacking something, there are plenty of talented RPers around here in the forum to poke for some lore-fitting ideas :)
For instance.. you can always set up a Arashi scavenger party on some junkers within the Labyrinth map. Having those classified as RP matches would also allow restrictions on the combatants. For example, 2 Arashi ships (one per team) are so heavily laden with scavenged material that they had to dismantle one of their guns on the lower board for added storage space.
It's easy to write up a background story for this, and then detail the fight afterwards in a Forum post with some screenshots and records from the fight and to make it look nice add some more RP-story elements.
Organized matches like that would actually allow a prolonged storyline of fights and flights, that could change based on the actions of the combatants. Well, but I'm just throwing ideas out.
I'll be busy with studying until the 22nd still, but from then on I'll gladly help out here with ideas, writing stories and organisation, where necessary!

@LaggyKitten
I'm quite the average player, myself, really! I think with some time and some effort though, we can make something like this work. I'll keep your name in mind, and if you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to share them!
@Kyren
That's a very good idea, Kyren. I was thinking something along those lines, but really, couldn't grasp quite how to approach it--thanks a lot for chiming in!
That sounds like a pretty nice way to get things started. Two salvage teams, enterprising scavengers from different (perhaps conflicting?) city-states, squaring off over this distant ruin for the prime loot--be that merely for personal gain, or the continuation of their own small, desert communities. Maybe substitute in a less commonly used gun for the 'disabled gun' (COUGH HARPOON.)
Another good idea! I had it in mind to write up some back story for the different battles and their layouts, but using the actual way things played out in-game through screenshots hadn't occurred to me.
Absolutely! It would be cool to be able to pull continuation matches, patching together small adventures for the crews of the ships. For example, perhaps the victorious Arashi team continues into the next game, and rushes along the route home, only to be cut off by a group of Anglean raiders. There'd even be room to switch up to 3v3 or something (granted, it might take a while to develop any kind of core base for these events to man that... Just a thought!) as one of the Arashi ships that was beat catches up, trying to hunt down the other Arashi, only to notice their under attack and decide the only thing they despise more than their opponent's city-state is any outsider who dares attack on /any/ of the city states!
Of course, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here... It'd probably be best to start out with something relatively simple and from there move forward, perhaps with a promise that if folks are interested, some events will carry over to future adventures.
Very cool. Good luck with your studies, and thanks for you offer to help! I'll gladly take what help you can provide in any of those regards, when you have the time. ^^

And here I go again, good to have some time again to wonder why my carronade got nerfed :)
I'd say we keep the Arashi scavenging party centered at this point, and try to get up a event around it. Choosing ships like the Junker is sure to attract people, as.. it's not the usual Pyramidionx4 :P
Also, "enterprising scavengers from different (perhaps conflicting?) city-states," gives us a nice starting point here at the forums. We could post 2 threads with some nice texts and graphics, recruiting 2 teams + substitutes in every thread. Recruitment offices for the 2 companies. Ideally, the companies would also provide the ships and loadout, so there we'd have our background for the restrictions.
Sorry to have kept you waiting!

I don't RP in the slightest. However its an interesting idea, also maybe an easy way for muse to test its instanced combat in the near future?
Edit: Maybe quacking counts, i don't know - i mean I'm not pretending to be a duck, because I *AM* a duck.... ONLY I'm not actually a duck.... It gets confusing.
