No, they'll understand the meaning behind it!! Every name is a revelation as to the strategy being used on it, well most of them. Cept Brick's...I think...I dunno. He has his own naming scheme.

Actually when I run with the Japan players they've seemed to like the anime references. Had a few instantly start singing Shinryaku when they realize the squid girl reference. Think part of it is surprise because some come from titles that are more known there and not in the rest of the world. Some give them challenges because they know the name is from their entertainment but is from a title they don't know. I've given Megane a few he's had to search for cause even he didn't know. Furugoori took him longer to realize than my others. Part because Robotics Notes, the show her character is in, was currently airing in Japan at the time and Frau Furugoori is not always a prominent character. The characters also refer to her more often as Frau.

No hentai stuff. Real anime with stories that beat the heck out of the trash Hollywood pulls out. The west tends to think anime = hentai. Course western audiences have a very simplistic view of animation. Japan has kid shows sure but they've long since seen anime as a form that isn't limited by age demographics. So you'll have shows constantly airing which fit into different age demographics. From Shounen to Josei/etc.

Alas, I haven't been able to track down Linen... I've had my top hunter on it for the past four days or so, tracking him through the outback... But it's a little late now. He has to be back in a couple hours or so to cast anyway.
