New ship! New gun! New party system! And tons more!

We’ve
updated to version 1.3, and it’s a doozy. For starters, we’ve introduced a new ship and a new gun, and then we decided to completely revamp chat and the in-game store. Here’s a look at what’s new and different:
New ship, the Mobula
New gun, the Phobos Light Mine Launcher
Party and crew formation system
Clan tags
Overhauled multi-channel, tabbed chat system
Notification system
New profile page and integrated badge system
Added new progression achievements and ranks (level cap raised to 15)
Expanded beginner tutorials

Mobulatory
Some
time ago one of our artists had the idea of making a ship with a zeppelin on the bottom rather than the top. Enter the Mobula. Its upside-down design increases balloon protection and grants it superior vertical mobility at the cost of slow turning speed and a larger top-down profile.
With
five hard points for light guns along its prow and no exposed weak points, the Mobula is offensively versatile and well-suited for chasing down retreating ships or exchanging fire in standoffs. Of course, this comes at a price — its slow turning speed makes it vulnerable to flanking maneuvers, and its repair points are tucked away inside the hull.
Mine, Mine, Mine!!!
The Phobos Mine Launcher is a new gun that shoots out proximity mines that explode near any ship (including your own). Each mine has a three-second arming time after which it deploys a balloon and floats in place. Mine launchers can maintain five concurrent mines (indicated by a new counter next to ammo count); if any additional mines are placed then the first one will explode!
Mines do 200 direct piercing damage and 150 impact damage in a 60m radius,
which makes them a devastating new form of map control. They can be chain-detonated, triggered with a sixth mine, remotely detonated with a well-placed round, or dropped with a popped balloon.
Our advice? Be very, very careful :)
So What Else Is New?
We recently did a huge overhaul of the social and progress systems.
PARTIES
Players
can now form their own parties. This is exactly what it sounds like —
you can invite people on your friends list, people in the lobby, anyone
you want to join your party. Members can be in two different matches and
still be in the same party. Parties can enter matches and crew
formation lobbies together, and of course party chat and party voice
chat have both been included in the new build.
CREWS
New crew formation lets you assemble up to four crews before
entering a match, making team formation and game creation that
much easier. Get all
your friends in on the action!
CHAT
Chat’s
bigger, better, faster, stronger. Lobby chat has been split into
“Global” and “Match” tabs. Match chat lets you talk to both teams in a
match, but not the lobby at large. Party chat and party voice chat are
implemented.
PROFILE
We’ve
added a player profile under the social tab that displays stats like
matches played, class preference, achievements, etc. Use it to view the
forums directly and manage your account, access the steam group, or
connect to our Facebook and Twitter accounts. “Invite Friend” is still
an option, too.
CLANS
Clan
tags are a new feature and can be up to 4 characters in length. If you
and your friends decide that “NOOB” is a cool clan name, you now have
the power to make it so.
A New Look, A New You
Step into our newly remodeled Store and have a look around! In new arrivals, you’ll find fetching new Ladies’ hairstyles and a smashing new mustache for the Gents.
